Project Zero 16 : The Highlander

Highlander as the name says, “there can be only one”, is based on a Buell Lightning XB9 2009 model. The Buell is known for its compact design. The frame / fuel tank & the swing arm / oil tank design make this a perfect platform to customize and convert it into a café racer.

The bike has completely taken a new form from frame above. The sub frame was redesigned to a Café Racer style. The rear cowl and the make shift "false tank" were hand crafted in Aluminium. Tracker Handle bar, Nissin hand control and Motogadget switches have been upgraded to give a minimalistic yet aggressive styling.

The custom tank cover, rear cowl and fender are painted gloss black with a tan leather seat, parallel black stitched, defines the elegant look of the bike. While the burnt steel finish of the sub frame, frame inserts and fender mounts highlight the rough side of the bike. The two into one exhaust, wrapped, clearly shows this machine is build for top end revs.

The moto scope pro speedo, 3 button switch controls and m-unit from motogadget replaces the cluttered stock controls and speedo to a modern custom and an old fashioned on/off toggle switch as the engine kill switch relates back to the old fashioned café racer era.
